Look Ma, I'm bloggin'!
Well then,
This is my first official blog. Isn't that spiffy? I love the word spiffy.
Anywho, I don't really have much to write about at the moment so I suppose I'll simply say a couple things that are on my mind and then get to bed.
So I've been enjoying the small pleasures of having two jobs and having one of those involve tips. It's nice to have a little spending cash in your pocket at the end of the day especially when you need to put some away so you can buy coffee and an energy drink for the next day. Yes, my days are that long and while I might get through them better with multiple energy drinks I would really rather not have my heart explode from my chest.
I'm looking forward to going to Oregon next week. I miss that city and the fact that when I go there I worry about nothing related to life here. No bills, no jobs, no school (well, it's summer so that's a given) so I can simply enjoy myself. Maybe even get something creative done as my muse seems to come out a little when I'm not in Alaska. It's a touch ironic seeing as plenty of people move up here for either a new start or to use the isolation as a way of getting their own muse up and dancing. Then there are the people who come here for the free money but we like feeding them to the moose, keeps those monsters from feeding on or trampling the locals.
I attend a festival called Faerieworlds every year. It's a fun little event wherein people from all corners of the country arrive to sell their wares, play their music, dance their fire dances (which kicks ass by the way) and many other things. It acts as a reset. Sure it's about faeries and other mythological creatures but I like it dammit. That and it features my favorite artist (Brian Froud), two of my favorite people attend it every year (Joseph and Donny Corsentino of Time of the Faeries), and there's some damn good music that plays there (Woodland, Ka'Nal, Tricky Pixie etc). So sure it's a hippy festival with faeries but I like it dammit!
So, this straight males love of faerie art aside, I wish to bring to attention a new development in my life. Two friends got me hooked on the idea last year but it wasn't until this past winter that I found myself really considering it. They said I should give photography a shot, I hope they're right when they said I had a knack for it because I'm kind of hooked on the idea now, alas recent events kept me from having the funds to pursue it so I'm saving up. Hoping to get a Canon, I'll probably start with a simple point-and-shoot model and then after I've warmed up go for something a little more professional. Either way, I'm a long way off from working on my idea but we'll see how things work out.
Anyway, that's enough for one day I suppose, time for sleep.
